The beginning...a very good place to start

May 21, 2011: The world didn't end today as predicted by those with Rapturitis, so I'm starting a blog about  my life.  It's being written by me and for me; it will not have a mission statement; it will not have any stakeholders--it's mine and I will do what I want with it. (I feel like Dougie Howser)

First of all thanks to my friend Dan who with his wife Judy are now vacationing in Europe. It was his idea to blog his vacation, so now I am aware of blogger.com.

Brief background for those who don't know me: don't know why you'd be reading this but
I am 57 yrs old, and just completed my first year of an Associate program leading to an RN. Obviously a second career.  I have a  30+ yr background in computers, and" now for something completely different".
My wife Maddy is also on a second carer as a self-employed consultant dealing with the world or Corporate Effectiveness via Organizational Behavior.

Today- Maddy and I just got back from ten great days traveling around the state of Oregon. We'd never been there before, but based on what we'd heard about it's beauty, and a cooking show on the food channel, we booked a trip.  We landed in Portland ("Keep Portland Weird"), drove west to the coast (Gorgeous), east to Eugene (A boring city) then SouthEast to Bend. At Bend we stayed in a great B&B, the Hillside Inn. After two nights there, drove up to Hood River on the Columbia Gorge, the border between Oregon and Washington State. The drive from Eugene to Bend is onw of the top 5 roads I have ever driven.

Just let me sum up the trip by saying go to Oregon!! It has beautiful coastlines, gorgeous forests, incredible freakin' mountains (Mt. Hood, Mt. Helens, Mt. Adams...just to name a few)  and best of all areas of High Desert.  Everywhere you look is another OMG moment. We were a little early in their season, still lots of snow in the mountains, many hiking trails and passes are closed, but there was nobody on the roads. . We would drive 50 - 60 miles through states forests without seeing another car.  Factoid: Mt. Hood is the only place in North America where you can ski 12 months a year.

That's it for now. Later after I dump the pictures from my camera I will have a link to view them.
Monday, 5/23 I start an online course, Intro. to Psychology.  Let the games Continue.
